Advancing psychosocial care through collaboration, education, and specialized social work practice in fetal therapy.
Who We Are
Fetal care center (FCC) social workers are essential members of the interdisciplinary fetal therapy team, providing comprehensive psychosocial care to patients and families navigating complex prenatal diagnoses. This includes assessment, care coordination, emotional support, mental health services and/or referral, ethical consultation, anticipatory guidance, and grief and loss care.
The Fetal Care Social Work Collaborative (FCSWC) is an established group dedicated to supporting social workers in this specialized area of practice. We provide a professional space for connection, consultation, and shared learning among social workers working in fetal care settings across North America.
The complexity of fetal care - combined with the integration of maternal and pediatric systems - creates unique clinical and structural challenges. Many FCC social workers practice within pediatric institutions while caring for pregnant patients, often with limited access to discipline-specific resources or colleagues with similar expertise. FCSWC exists to bridge this gap.
FCSWC provides a dedicated space for social workers in fetal care to connect with others who understand the clinical complexity and emotional intensity of this work. Whether you are new to a fetal care center or have years of experience, the collaborative offers support, shared knowledge, and a sense of professional community.
By connecting FCC social workers across institutions, we aim to strengthen psychosocial care, reduce professional isolation, and promote consistency in practice across fetal care programs.
If you are a social worker practicing in a fetal care center, or interested in this area of work, please connect with us.
