Welcome to NAFTNet

NAFTNet (the North American Fetal Therapy Network) is a voluntary association of medical centers in the United States and Canada with established expertise in fetal surgery and other forms of multidisciplinary care for complex disorders of the fetus. The NAFTNet initiative is funded, in part, by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

This site offers help and information to parents and families of affected fetuses. It also allows medical professionals to seek the help of colleagues in the field, collaborate with other fetal treatment units and participate in clinical research. More…

NAFTNet coordinates research projects by any of its member centers - see the Research Highlights at right. NAFTNet also sponsors outside research projects by other organizations (below). Contact the individual research organizations for further details.

fetal repair of Myelo-meningocele (fMMC) Registry

NAFTNet hosts an international registry for in utero repair of spina bifda (myelo-meningocele). For more information, please contact information@naftnet.org.


NAFTNet is also a sponsor of the International Fetal Cardiac Intervention Registry (IFCIR), which regroups all centers that offer in utero procedures for heart anomalies (including treatment for hypoplastic left and right heart syndrome). More information at www.ifcir.org.


NAFTNet is co-sponsoring an international Randomized Controlled Study of the Treatment of Stage I Twin-to-twin Transfusion Syndrome. Full description of the study, including inclusion and exclusion criteria, is available at ClinicalTrials.gov.

FAST Therapy Trial
